[ So, they matched up in that Hubert went home with Akane, after they all decided it together. It meant it would be awhile before Aoi would know who Hubert really was, but it was the best way for Akane - and therefore it was the way Aoi insisted on. Surprise, surprise.
It's over a year before Aoi discovers who Hubert really is. They find themselves back at home after the final trial and suddenly everything makes sense. Two and two are put together and they finally don't make five. So, he approaches Hubert's room in the Kurashiki apartment quite steadily, not even bothering to knock on the door. He's mostly avoided him so far back at home, so this will probably be telling that things have occurred. ]
[That's the question, isn't it. The last they spoke in that timeline was Aoi's secrets being exposed at the trial. How much is he, Hubert, willing to accept on faith now?
He's not sure]
I have missed you. Too much, perhaps. But we did not part in the best way...
[ Aoi has no idea whether this ritual needs something extra, or just the proper pronunciation of Alastor's name. Just in case, he's got some blood in a bottle - even if it's not necessary, it'd just be nice to feed him. So, a few days after he remembers everything, a whole year and a half after the round takes place, he sits on the roof of their apartment and tries it. ]
[It might not be obvious at first that it worked, depending on the weather at the time...the first indication of Alastor's arrival is dark storm clouds blanketing the sky out to the horizon. As thunder rumbles, brilliant violet electricity sears runes into the air, forming a circle parallel to the ground, a good ten feet from the roof. Then, lightning splits the sky as the air between the runes ripples, and Alastor floats down, wings spread behind the armor he'd lacked on the ship.]
Hope you don't mind I turned the drama up a notch, couldn't resist showing off a bit.
[The lights behind his visor widen as he snatches the bottle out of the air. He immediately takes note of whether or not it's still warm, a decent enough metric of how fresh it might be.]
A hundred times, of everything snapping back to the way it was when you first woke up...
I saw something almost like that happen in Movieland, but everyone remembered...they just woke up with the previous day's work undone. Even that much was so hard on them, I had to question why they kept preparing for the next day.
Yeah. It took some doing, but we even managed to make sure Eva pulled through.
In a sense, anyway. She's never going to be human again, but some of the real movers and shakers of the underworld started out as Witches, just like her.
Well...she wasn't entirely herself. The Eva who was behind all that was fused with the Qliphoth tree, and I think her goals and desires were twisted to make her basically just a mouthpart for the tree.
The real Eva...she fought alongside Sparda to fend off Mundus' armies.
About thinking none of it was serious, anyway...I'd be throwing stones from a house made of tissue paper if I called it dumb to want Roland up against a wall.
Not sure how well I'd expect it to work out with just the two of you, though...I mean, are either of you interested in domming?
[Nope, he's going to flit around behind Aoi to try using him as an armrest instead. He's far more maneuverable in the air with his own wings than he was with Lucifer's.]
Just enjoying the novelty of dating a sadist this time, huh?

Why didn't you tell me?!
[ He knows why. And yet. ]
no subject
Would you have if our roles were reversed?
no subject
But still! Fuck!
[ He collapses on Hubert's bed, glaring at the ceiling. ]
Why did I make you go through that?!
no subject
[He watches Aoi carefully, wishing to touch him but not willing to broach that so soon after he remembered]
no subject
[ He sits up and stares at him. ]
Be honest.
[ He wants to touch him, too. He reaches out for him and places his hand on his shoulder. ]
no subject
[Not being able to touch, to talk in any meaningful way...]
We had to hide so much from you.
no subject
[ He really does look sorry. ]
How can I make it up to you?
no subject
no subject
[ Because he's not letting Hubert go before that. Except - ]
If it's okay I keep you around that long, anyway.

[Ah... he feared everything was a plot]

You're the only one I never plotted against.
calling alastor
Al-a-stor!
[ With proper greek accent and everything! ]

Hope you don't mind I turned the drama up a notch, couldn't resist showing off a bit.

[ Aoi gives him an appreciate look and tosses the bottle of blood up. ]
Wouldn't expect you to do anything else.
no subject
Got a warm welcome for me too, huh?
no subject
[ It's a few hours old? Fresh enough, hopefully. ]
Wanted to sweeten the deal, in case you have bad memories of me.
no subject
[He lightly bops Aoi over the head with the bottle, right as he lowers to float scant inches over the woof.]
no subject
[ He does look apologetic. ]
Have you waited awhile to hear from me? Hubert sure waited awhile for me to remember.
no subject
[He opens the bottle and chugs it, planning to not give it time to clot.]

You know it was around 100 times I went through that...?

I saw something almost like that happen in Movieland, but everyone remembered...they just woke up with the previous day's work undone. Even that much was so hard on them, I had to question why they kept preparing for the next day.

The only way to solve it was to save everyone.
Which we did, right...?

I'm still not sure I entirely forgive her.

The real Eva...she fought alongside Sparda to fend off Mundus' armies.
no subject
It makes sense, logically. But my heart still has to accept it.
no subject
...Plus, getting stuck with a certain son of hers before meeting her.
no subject
I'd never meet him again.
no subject
You know, that is my boss you're talking about...sorta, part-time.
Honestly, I do kinda like him now that we've smoothed things out, but I get where you're coming from. He can be downright obnoxious.

I know, I know. Careful throwing those stones, though. Most wouldn't exactly consider Hubert a catch.
no subject
Yes, but I do. And that's all that matters.

no subject
Not that I ever told you about that.

But I definitely made out with Roland a lot in another loop.

[Incoming noogie, Aoi!]

Never thought it'd be with someone whose job should involve hunting my kind, but...this past year has been a lot of surprises.
